The Google Acquisition Framework
June 19, 2007
So tonight I attended a conference about beginning a startup. Long story short, I met a lot of cool people with interesting ideas. Were any of them revolutionary? Nope. Not even one, but all of these guys were convinced they were going to conquer the earth with their idea. The majority of the sites were focused social networking, and data aggregation of current web2.0 portals.
I posed 2 questions to the majority of the people attending the conference, "What are you using to write your app?" and "How do you plan to make money?" The majority of these guys were using Ruby on Rails, and had no idea of how they were going to make money other then advertising. The conclusion I have come to is the bubble has been reformed, and we are all racing against the clock to win that lucky golden candy bar wrapper from Google (or whoever), before it all comes crashing down. To get acquired by Google you need the following:
Google Aquisition Framework Kit
- A community
- AJAX spread like butter all over your app
- ROR or some rapid development framework
- No business model required
- Rounded divs (this is a must)
- Rss (no one will take you seriously if you do not have RSS)
- A tag box (this tag box must be riddled with tags to the point its not even readable anymore)
There ya go people now get to work!
